Why Choose Pembrokeshire for your Autumn Holiday?

Autumn in North Pembrokeshire is nothing short of magical. The busy summer tourist season has ended, the roads, beaches and footpaths are quieter, the temperate is a little cooler and fresher, and the colourful Autumn leaves have begun to fall. With this, north Pembrokeshire is transformed into a peaceful haven for those seeking an Autumn escape. Experience the nature, history, and culture of Pembrokeshire coastlines, countryside, towns and villages.

Pembrokeshire is equally as beautiful in Autumn as it is in Summer, but with a more relaxed charm. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is quieter, beaches more peaceful, and the changing colours of the woodlands create an idyllic setting for short strolls or long walks in the countryside. Plus, the cooler temperatures make it perfect for activities like hiking and cycling, or simply soaking in the scenery.

Walking
A must-do is a walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which winds its way from St Dogmaels in the north down the coastline. In autumn, the rugged cliffs are covered in heather and bracken, and the early sunsets are spectacular, painting the sky in brilliant shades of pink, purple, red and orange.

Wildlife
Autumn is a prime time for wildlife enthusiasts in North Pembrokeshire. Seals are in their pupping season, and you can often spot seal pups along secluded beaches or nestled in coves. Cardigan Bay, just north of Pembrokeshire, is a hotspot for dolphin sightings year-round in places like Mwnt, Aberporth, & Tresaith, but they are often more visible in the quieter autumn months.

Birdwatchers can enjoy the sight of migratory species passing through, particularly at Strumble Head, a renowned spot for observing seabirds and other wildlife. Here, the Strumble Head Lighthouse also stands as a photogenic landmark against the windswept coast.

Towns & Villages
Newport is the heart of north Pembrokeshire. Nestled at the foot of the Preseli Hills, Newport has a variety of shops, cosy cafés, restaurants and pubs, perfect for warming up after a long autumn walk.
