If you’re starting from St Dogmaels in the north, and following the path south to Fishguard, or if you’re walking from south to north and ending with the Fishguard to St Dogmaels path. We have holiday cottages and accommodation on, or very near the north Pembrokeshire Coast Path, all along this stretch. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to meet up and stay before getting ready and geared up for the start of the walk, a rest place to stay mid way along the north stretch, or a relaxing cottage to unwind in St Dogmaels after completing your walk.

The starting point of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, when walking north to south, is the delightful riverside village of St Dogmaels. Make your way to the moorings, just down the road from the Ferry Inn, and you’ll find the starting marker. Stay on this road following the River Teifi down to the estuary at Poppit.

St Dogmaels to Poppit
Poppit
After 2 miles, you’ll drop back down to the riverside, where you can enjoy lovely views over the river and the tip of Poppit beach. The Teifi Waterside Hotel & Restaurant is located here, and it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a quick drink. Stay on the footpath and head to Poppit beach. There are toilets here and a lovely takeaway café called Crwst.

Follow the road up behind the café until you reach the turn where you leave the road behind and join the footpath. Stay on this footpath all the way around the wonderful and wild headland, and enjoy breath-taking views of the river, beaches and Cardigan Island. You stay along the coast now all the way until you drop down to Ceibwr Bay.

Ceibwr to Newport Sands

From Ceibwr beach, cross over the small bridge and follow the road to the right until you re-join the footpath. This is a spectacular stretch of coastline, with dramatic cliffs, and home to the Witches Cauldron. Stay on the coast path all the way until you reach Newport Golf Course and Newport Sands beach. The beach hut or Cat Rock café are great places to stop for food and drink.

From the beach you can either walk the beach to the estuary and follow the river up stream, or take the gate in the car park and make your way along the edge of the golf course and dunes. This will bring you out along side the river, which you follow up to the picturesque white bridge, cross the bridge and follow the path down the other side all the way into Parrog. Here, you can enjoy an ice-cream or bite to eat in Morawelon.

Parrog to Dinas Head
Parrog to Dinas Head (Pwllgwaelod Beach)
Follow the footpath or beach, starting at Morawelon Café, down river towards the sea. Enjoy views of the river and the little coves along the way, until you reach the old lifeboat station, a great spot to stop and skim stones. Climb up the coast path from here and follow the path to Aberfforest, and then on to Cwm Yr Eglwys. Have a little paddle, then head off around Dinas head to Pwllgwaelod and the Sailors Safety pub.
